Finance Director – Business Controlling
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: The ability to offer both short term operational views but also longer-term strategy in line with business objectives. Key custodian for business strategy and operational plans of the region.
- Operational Performance: Ability to drive business teams to board approved strategic plan & suggest deviations from strategic plans in line with changing environment
- Financial Accounting: Delivery of timely and accurate monthly accounts for all companies in region with commentary highlighting significant issues impacting performance. Should be able to define and improve month end close processes with the team
- Business Processes: ensure that all business processes and procedures are regularly reviewed and optimal for the changing demands of the business.
- Budgets & Costs: managing the annual budget and forecasting process for the region.
- Finance Function: Ensure the regional finance team are appropriately resourced and possess the skills required to support the demands of the business.
- Data & Analytics: Manages data within the organization and drives efficient use of it through setup of appropriate system in partnership with IT
- Inventory Management: Including pricing, markdowns and OTB management/ tracking. Ability to suggest markdown plans at seasonal level.
- M&A: Lead any M&A activity undertaken by the company
People Management
- Defines goals and key performance indicators for each member of the team and ensures effective implementation of the GMG’s performance management process.
- Develops talent within the team by providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching to achieve the defined goals.
- Drives a culture of feedback and coaching in the Business Unit by providing feedback on an ongoing basis, identifying development needs, and coaching the employees on the areas of improvement.
Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy or ACCA/CIMA/CPA and have at least 10-12 years of relevant working experience, preferably in retail/FMCG industry
- Proficient in Finance & Accounting software, e.g., SAP
- Experience working across multiple levels (including Senior Managerial level) and across function Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national, matrix organization
- Good understanding of and/ experience in retail operations
- Experience of operating in an international environment and managing remote teams. A 'hands-on' approach is essential with experience of leading a finance function
- A proven track record in managing numerous projects at the same time Flexibility for travel across the MENA / ASIA Region
