About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced M&E (Mechanical and Electrical) Technician to join our retail organization. As an M&E Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment within our retail facilities. You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our stores, maximizing uptime, and minimizing disruptions to business operations.
Installations and Maintenance:
● Install, inspect, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, lighting, power distribution, plumbing, and fire alarm systems, in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
● Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential issues or malfunctions.
● Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the continuous operation of equipment and systems.
● Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized installations or repairs.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
● Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, including identifying faulty components, analyzing system performance, and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
● Conduct repairs or coordinate with external service providers to resolve equipment malfunctions promptly.
● Respond to urgent maintenance requests and prioritize tasks based on criticality and impact on store operations.
● Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status.
Safety and Compliance:
● Ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards, codes, and regulations in the maintenance and operation of mechanical and electrical systems.
● Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards or violations.
● Implement corrective measures to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment for employees and customers.
Documentation and Reporting:
● Maintain comprehensive documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, inspection reports, and maintenance schedules.
● Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and repair costs for management review.
● Provide recommendations for process improvements, cost-saving initiatives, and equipment upgrades to enhance operational efficiency.
Collaboration and Communication:
● Collaborate with store managers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to understand maintenance requirements and prioritize tasks accordingly.
● Communicate effectively with internal staff, external contractors, and vendors to coordinate maintenance schedules, repairs, and project timelines.
● Provide guidance and support to store staff regarding equipment operation, maintenance best practices, and energy conservation measures.
Qualifications and Requirements:
● High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in a relevant field is preferred.
● Electrician certificate at least PW1
● Proven experience as an M&E Technician or similar role, preferably in the retail industry.
● In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, lighting, power distribution, plumbing, and fire alarm systems.
● Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions.
● Familiarity with relevant safety codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
● Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and manuals.
● Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, electrical metres, and other equipment for testing and repairs.
● Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
● Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
● Flexibility to work during non-business hours or weekends for urgent repairs or maintenance activities.
● Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
