Role Summary:
The Assortment Planner is responsible for developing and executing seasonal product assortments to support category growth and profitability. The role focuses on optimizing inventory, reducing markdowns, maximizing sell‑through, and ensuring product availability aligned with customer demand and commercial objectives. This position collaborates closely with buying, planning, supply chain, and store operations teams to deliver high‑performing assortments and support the Category Manager in the buying process.
Responsibilities:
Execute strategic seasonal assortments informed by consumer insights, brand direction, and commercial targets.
Analyze sales trends, product performance, and market behavior to recommend adjustments in assortments, pricing, and stock strategies.
Work closely with planning and buying teams to ensure stock availability that aligns with forecasts, promotions, and retail calendars.
Monitor and manage inventory levels across channels, preventing overstocks and managing aging stock.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to optimize lead times and resolve supply‑related issues.
Prepare and deliver detailed merchandising performance reports with actionable insights and future recommendations.
Support product launches, seasonal campaigns, and key buying meetings.
Share best practices and provide guidance to junior merchandising staff where needed.
Continuously seek process improvements to enhance merchandising systems and overall efficiency.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field.
Postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
Approximately 6 years of experience in merchandising, assortment planning, or related retail functions.
Proficiency in English; Arabic is a plus.
Strong written communication.
Advanced Excel, SAP ERP, data analysis certifications, project management certifications are advantageous.
